چکیده

Managing a company requires different tools and methodologies in order to successfully deal with its intangible resources and maintain a competitive advantage. Econometrics, Agent-Based Modelling (ABM) and System Dynamics (SD) are modelling paradigms which facilitate the building of dynamic models that are characteristic of the organisational context. These three paradigms have important differences that can determine their suitability to analysing organisational problems. This paper firstly describes the Econometrics, System Dynamics (SD) and Agent-Based Modelling (ABM) modelling paradigms. Secondly, the paper studies how these three paradigms can analyse organisational problems by means of a model developed using each of the three paradigms. Finally, the paper provides some considerations towards a method for validating the assumptions of how the paradigms fit with the requirements to study an organisational problem.

Balancing Formality with Informality: User-Centred Requirements for Organisational Management Technologies

Numerous disciplines are now trying to analyse and represent the processes and products of organisational memory, in order to clarify what tangible representations future knowledge managers will work with. This short paper begins by reflecting briefly on the nature of systematic representations, as a reminder of the commitments that are made in any classification process. It is argued that ther...

Requirements Engineering for Organisational Modelling

This paper explores a semiotic perspective to information systems engineering, using organisational modelling techniques rooted in organisational semiotics. The components and relationships of large corporations are highly complex, volatile and unstructured. Semiotic modelling techniques are therefore introduced to address these challenges posed by large enterprises. MEASUR, a suite of methods ...

Responsibility Modelling for Risk Analysis

This paper proposes a novel approach to systems modelling based on responsibilities. The approach is designed to help users identify and analyse the hazards and associated risks that can arise in complex socio-technical systems that span organisational boundaries. Through a case study this paper shows how the technique can identify the vulnerabilities that may arise because human, organisationa...

Towards a Tool-Oriented Taxonomy of View-Based Modelling

The separation of view and model is one of the key concepts of ModelDriven Engineering (MDE). Having different views on a central model helps modellers to focus on specific aspects. Approaches for the creation of Domain-Specific Modelling Languages (DSML) allow language engineers to define languages tailored for specific problems. To be able to build DSMLs that also benefit from view-based mode...
